Clients’ Remarks

Had the most fantastic stay in this most beautiful location!  This place is perfect.  Will never forget the drive here in the blizzard,  Loch Morlich frozen over or feeding the reindeer!  This area is as beautiful in winter as it is in the summer.

Great time, lovely place and the badger came regularly. Will come again. The darker the night the earlier the badgers.

Lovely week and lovely to be back here again. If you really want to treat yourself we recommend the landrover tour of Rothiemurchus Estate (3 hours) and also a meal at “One Pot Borrowed” in the Rothiemurchus Centre.

Plenty of wildlife in the garden, excellent views of red squirrel feeding, crested tits right at the window and a tawny owl. Glimpses at early evening and just before dawn of pine marten. Jays, woodpeckers, kestral, buzzard, treecreeper, fieldfare, redpoll and red bunting all seen in garden. In the forest behind I saw capercaillie and lots more crested tits and crossbill. In the mountains above Kingussie ptarmigan, mountain hare in their winter white glory, golden eagle being robbed by a raven. Jasmine, the dog loved the heavy snow and I enjoyed the blue skies and sunshine early in the stay. My third stay here. Thanks Kate

Weather variable – snow – rather a surprise. See you next March.

We enjoyed our short stay – every rainy, snowy and sunny day! Felt at home. Loved the way Kate guided us with her precise and accurate directions for getting around. In short, felt at home. Thanks Kate.

Another perfect week, thanks Kate! There are so many walks to do in this area that we didn’t really venture very far afield this time. We loved coming back to the Old Log Shed and watching Bob the Badger. He loves peanut butter on bread and peanuts. One night he came up to the patio door. He usually came out about 10pm. The weather was gorgeous and we only had one afternoon of rain.

Thank you Kate. Weather was mixed but still enjoyed our stay. Second time in the Old Log Shed and 22 years in total in Kate’s Cabins!

Our week in the Old Log Shed has been wonderful: a well-equipped place in a great situation. We saw 20 species of birds from our windows and squirrels. A roe deer walked close by one morning and the badgers provided what was, for us, a unique experience. Thank you Kate

Second stay in ‘Kate’s Cabins’ The Old Log Shed is perfect – so cosy and comfortable! Thanks for the jam Kate! Spent nearly every day at RSPB Loch Garten Osprey Centre watching the birds! Crested tits, coal tits, red squirrels, goldcrests etc. etc. Loved it! Then ‘home’ here for more wildlife. Badgers been every night! Two nights at midnight but tonight at 8pm! Feed them peanuts on the wooden tray on the patio and they will come!! Lots of walking in the beautiful forests. Weather was kind – very little rain. Thanks again Kate.
